Lukas Jacobski, Bass

LukasJacobskiwebBorn in Koszalin, Poland, Lukas Jakobski has recently joined the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. In his first season he will sing Flemish Deputy in Verdi Don Carlo; Aged Gambler The Gambler; Pietro Simon Boccanegra and will cover Bes Tsarina’s Slippers; King Aida and Nick Shadow in Stravinsky The Rake’s Progress.

Other future plans include singing Herald in Verdi Otello for Sir Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra, and on the concert platform Messiah with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and John Butt.

Lukas began his musical training as a bassoonist before studying singing at the Academy of Music in Poznan. During this time he performed various roles, culminating in a critically acclaimed performance of Leporello Don Giovanni.

In 2004 he moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music with Graeme Broadbent and has also participated in masterclasses with Michael Chance, Alessandro Corbelli, David Syrus and Sir John Tomlinson. Awards during this time include the Kathleen Ferrier Bursary and Concordia Serena Nevill Award.

He recently had a highly successful debut at Drottningholms Slottsteater in Sweden singing Nettuno, Tempo and Antinoo in a new production of Monteverdi Il Ritorno d’Ulisse and also recently sang Armed Man/Priest Die Zauberflöte and Zuniga Carmen for Glyndebourne Touring Opera. Other opera appearances have included Second Priest St Matthew Passion with Glyndebourne Festival Opera; Don Basilio Il Barbiere di Siviglia for Grange Park Opera, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte with Dartington Opera Festival and Caronte Orfeo with English Bach Festival

Concerts have included Handel Solomon with the Kymi Sinfonietta, Bach St John Passion with Stephen Layton and Polyphony, Polyphemo Acis and Galatea at the London Handel Festival, conducted by Laurence Cummings and Bach St Matthew Passion with the Dunedin Consort and John Butt. He has also sung Verdi Requiem; Beethoven Symphony No 9; Mozart Coronation Mass and Requiem; Handel La Resurrezione and Messiah.
