Irish Baroque Orchestra are holding general auditions on Friday March 2nd at National Concert Hall, Dublin.
Irish Baroque Orchestra is one of Ireland’s most dynamic professional musical ensembles and specialises in the period performance of music from the 17th and 18th centuries. The orchestra performs its annual Concert Season in Dublin and throughout regional Ireland. Furthermore, IBO has gained great critical acclaim for its many tours and recordings.
Irish Baroque Orchestra is funded annually by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and by Dublin City Council. IBO is a resident company of the National Concert Hall, Dublin. 2018 is an exciting year with the appointment of acclaimed Irish director and harpsichordist, Peter Whelan, as Artistic Director and also the announcement of President Michael D. Higgins as sole Patron of Irish Baroque Orchestra.
Auditions are open to instrumentalists, and singers, in Ireland, and abroad, who wish to be considered for work with Irish Baroque Orchestra. The auditions are open to experienced professional players and singers who have extensive experience in the field of historically informed performance and authentic performance practices.
The auditions are not for any specific role, project or bank of work but rather for IBO to appraise the talents available to it for future planning.
The audition will consist of:
- Two contrasting baroque/classical pieces
- A brief discussion about your career with the audition panel.
