PETER CROOKS

Dr Peter Crooks is Associate Professor in Medieval History in Trinity College, and Director of the Beyond 2022: Ireland's Virtual Record Treasury research project — a national legacy project from the Irish Decade of Centenaries. He has published widely on the history of Ireland and Britain in the Middle Ages, and is editor of the New Cambridge History of Britain, vol. 2: 1100–1500 (Cambridge University Press). He is a member of the Irish Manuscripts Commission and the Trinity Association and Trust. Peter started playing the violin at three and upgraded to the viola at seven, becoming Principal Viola with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland. While moving into academia, he remained closely involved in the classical music scene in Ireland. He served as Chair of the Irish Baroque Orchestra from 2020 to 2022, overseeing a period of transformational development during this time.
