2022 - Year in Review

2022 has been a fantastic year for Ireland’s time-travelling orchestra; the artistic quality of our work was recognised with a win at the prestigious Olivier Awards, our international profile expanded into new territory and we have enjoyed record levels of support.

TO OUR ARTISTS

Thank you for a transformational year which included:

⭐️the award-winning Irish National Opera production of Vivaldi’s ‘Bajazet’ across Ireland and at the Royal Opera House, London

⭐️the release of ‘The Hibernian Muse’ at Dublin Castle for Dublin HandelFest 2022 - the third instalment in Peter Whelan and the IBO's Irish heritage recording cycle.

⭐️A fantastic London debut from our IBO Young Artists at Handel’s church, for the Irish Heritage Christmas Concert

⭐️working with 30 talented musicians as part of our Young Artist programming (and taking the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra to Croatia!)

⭐️The revival of ‘The Trials of Tenducci’ with Tara Erraught, for Kilkenny Arts Festival

⭐️A UK tour of ‘Bach’s Doubles and Triples’, forging new relationships in Oxford and Cambridge

⭐️The launch of Behind the Brandenburgs - our new digital project exploring Bach's Brandenburg Concertos


TO OUR AUDIENCES

⭐️You have attended and supported 45 performances, pop-ups and talks in 2022

⭐️We have reached more than 15 million engagements through worldwide radio broadcast, with a 490% increase in Spotify listeners

TO OUR SUPPORTERS

⭐️ An astonishing 67 subscriptions from our Friends and Patrons have underpinned our year, sitting at the heart of the IBO community

⭐️Arts Council Ireland supported us with our largest grant to date in 2022, as well as offering us a place on the RAISE Accelerate programme to capitalise on new development opportunities.

⭐️€35,000 of funding from Culture Ireland has been awarded to support our expanded programme of international performances in 2022 and 2023
