Come and work with Ireland's flagship period instrument orchestra!

Musicians

We invite applications to work with the orchestra on a rolling basis from musicians who:

- perform to a professional standard on an orchestral period instrument (e.g. violin, viola, cello, double bass, viola da gamba, violone, harpsichord, chamber organ, traverso, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, chalumeau, natural trumpet, baroque/classical horn, sackbut).

 

Please note that applicants must have a period-appropriate setup and must ensure that they:

- are citizens of an EU country or the UK, or have an appropriate permit in place to work in the EU.

- can demonstrate a track record of excellence in period performance, with a good degree of orchestral experience. 

Young musicians aged 18-24 are encouraged to explore the opportunities on offer through the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra and the Apprentice Programme.

Professional players of a period instrument should send a CV and a link to an audio/video sample of their work.

 

Please note that submissions are reviewed periodically and, due to the volume of correspondence received we cannot promise to respond to applications individually.

Production Assistants

We invite applications to work with the orchestra on a rolling basis from individuals interested in taking on freelance production work. 

As a part of the production team, your role would be to assist in the smooth running of the logistics of a performance day, working closely with the IBO’s General Manager. Production Assistants form a part of the backstage and front of house teams, working efficiently on a range of tasks.

BACKSTAGE TEAM 

Responsibilities include:
• Moving larger instruments on and off transport and into rehearsal/ performance
venues.
• Erecting signage for backstage and front of house facilities as required
• Assisting in setting up the orchestra space prior to performance/rehearsal
• Organising refreshments for the musicians
• Working swiftly to pack the performance space away after the performance has ended
• Assisting additional production teams e.g. RTE Lyric Fm broadcast teams with loading/unloading equipment as required.

FRONT OF HOUSE TEAM 

Responsibilities include:
• Directing ticket holders to the relevant area for their ticket band.
• Selling merchandise before, after and during the interval of the concert.
• Answering FAQs regarding, for example, location of toilet facilities, duration of interval
• Ringing the bell to signal 5 minutes until the end of the interval
• Setting up merchandise stalls with stock (CDs, tote bags and programmes)
• Passing any complaints to a designated member of IBO staff.
