The Irish Baroque Orchestra is Ireland’s flagship period-instrument ensemble and an internationally recognised leader in historically informed performance. Based at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, the orchestra combines research-led scholarship with world-class artistic practice, presenting work across Ireland and on leading international stages including major festivals, concert halls, and broadcast platforms. Alongside its developing international profile, the IBO maintains a strong commitment to local engagement, education, and community-based projects that bring baroque music to new and diverse audiences.
The IBO is entering a new strategic phase, building on significant artistic and organisational momentum marked by major international appearances, award recognition, and an expanding recording and touring profile. We are now seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation forward in close partnership with the Artistic Director and the Board. This is a senior leadership role at the heart of a high-performing organisation with an ambitious national and international programme.
The successful candidate will bring proven leadership experience within a music organisation, orchestra, ensemble or opera company, together with the ability to operate effectively in an agile environment where strategic leadership and hands-on delivery are closely integrated. They will have a clear understanding of how to support and enable an ambitious artistic vision, working in close partnership with artistic leadership, while ensuring organisational, financial and operational resilience.
They will have experience of developing and diversifying income streams, and of managing relationships with funders, partners and stakeholders in Ireland and internationally. They will be motivated by the opportunity to lead a nationally rooted organisation with a growing international profile and strong artistic momentum, and to help shape its next stage of strategic and organisational development.
