The Irish Baroque Orchestra Welcomes Tadhg Sudlow asAssociate Artist for 2026

The Irish Baroque Orchestra (IBO), Ireland’s time-travelling orchestra, is delighted to announce the appointment of Tadhg Sudlow as Associate Artist for 2026.

Tadhg Sudlow, an acclaimed musician renowned for his dynamic performances and

deep commitment to historically-informed practice, will direct three concerts during the

2026 season exploring queer history through the lens of music.

As a versatile musician, Tadhg has experience as a historical violinist and violist across

Europe and Australia. He regularly performs with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and

the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, also leading and performing with freelance

ensembles at home in the Netherlands. Alongside an early music career, Tadhg is a

traditional Irish music player, forming trad band The Hár in Australia as a fiddle and

banjo player, most recently touring in Edinburgh and Dublin. This knowledge of the oral

traditions in Irish music combined with a dedication to performance research has

resulted in the concerts Trad meets Baroque with the ensemble An Banna Aosta,

making him a familiar face to followers of the IBO.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tadhg to the IBO family as an Associate Artist this year,”

said Aliye Cornish, CEO of the Irish Baroque Orchestra. “His unique voice as an artist

combined with a rigorous approach to research and scholarship brings a unique offer for

IBO’s audiences in the 2026 season. We look forward to the creative projects that will

arise from this exciting partnership.”

Commenting on his appointement, Tadhg says "I’m delighted to be working with IBO this year on creative collaborations with performers I deeply admire. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring overlooked queer histories to life, to explore new possibilities with Irish trad and baroque music, and to share these discoveries with IBO’s fantastic, supportive audiences."

Tadhg Sudlow’s appointment as an Associate Artist reflects IBO’s ongoing commitment

to nurturing talent and broadening access to historically-informed performance.

Catch Tadhg live in concert at the Sugar Club on February 19th , presenting ‘Queer

Georgians: The Ladies of Llangollen’ featuring actor and historian Anthony

Delaney.

Collaborating artists include Ellen Bolger (harpsichord) and Xander Baker

(cello).
